took 4 vials of blood form me bleeehhhhh soo sleepy. had some thing to eat though. and a small nap. found out just how squimish i am towards blood. looking at the vials, i almost threw up my lunch.. but i kept it down. it might just have been because i was MY blood though.

and other news.. sooo freaking tired... SOO TIRED...

and the nurse who took me blood, kept telling me how they use to many needles when you give birth, seriously.. could you ahve not told me this? i hate needles. is there any ways i can get away with not using needles during birth? IV scare the living crap out ofme, so huge and i hate the feeling of things under my skin. Yes i have had a IV before when i was 6. i was EXTREMELY creeped out by it.

see I'm the opposite. I had no issues watching my bloodwork get done. and checking my iron levels was kinda neat (dropping the drop in the blue fluid stuff and seeing how long it takes to sink. they used this tiny little squeezy tube to take the blood... anyway :D ). Other people's wounds and yuckies, though... :x

they used the smalled adult needle they had, and the smallest tube they had. and it took 2 nurses to find where to draw blood. I have always been reliable with where to find it too. one spot on my right arm. XD she found it on my left arm though. i was very surprised.

other peoples wounds and such, no big issues. unless it is gushing blood and more blood. Or a imbeded opject.

i have a hard time with IVs as well. it wasn't until someone explained that the iv is plastic and not a needle that I calmed down. but when I had surgery the first thing I wanted was that IV out of me... the second was the catheter. GIVE ME BACK MY DIGNITY PLEASE. D:

it still sits under your skin. and delivers things to your blood stream. it still creeps the fuck out of me. ACK! i remember another time i had to ahve a iv. Wisdom teeth removal.

i refuse to do a cathedor at all costs. if i pee on the doctor, i will laugh! BUUHAHAHAHAAA!!..

You can give birth without the IV and all that, if you are in a low risk pregnancy, and you do your research to find a midwife, and/or alternative birthing centre (ie not a hospital). Birthing in a hospital won't give you much choice in how you or the baby is treated.

the only place highly recommended to me so far, is the one hospital down town. i might have to do some more research into it. as far as i can figure i'm all low risk pregnancy. If i do end up at a hospital, and end up with a iv. i think i will cry and go insane. don't need extra stress at that time.

We'll get that baby out of you the proper way. Needle and drug free.
Lots of reflexology and acupressure points for labor.
Besides, you have the absolute right to say at anytime: no drugs, no needles. I know that if there was an emergency you'd bite the bullet for the sake of you and your baby. But I agree with redhotlips, a low risk pregnancy shouldn't warrant any needles.

i figured i had the right to say it. no iv's no needles for nothing. nope. unless it becomes a emergency situation. then i won't complain too much. c-section to be advoided at alll costs.

and i already told you who i want in the room with me. :)

It is possible to have a needle-less delivery.

I didn't have an IV when in labour. I DID have a shot of demerol to help me sleep after being awake and in labour all night (so I slept in between contractions) but that was it. One needle.

THAT i can handle. everyone else seems to be very sure ont he fact that EVERYONE needs to have a IV. which i am against. i only had one only once, for my dental surgery to remove the stubborn wisdom teeth out of my tiny mouth.

never ever ever again.. never ever.

Short of having a c-section, IVs are completely useless in labour. Plus they get in the way of you being able to walk to speed things up.
